The adidas Top Ten Mid was very likely part of the reason that the Nike Air Force 1 became the default shoe for a generation. The Top Ten was released in 1979, endorsed by two handfuls of NBA players in what can be seen as the predecessor to Nike’s AF1 grouping of Moses Malone, Michael Cooper, et al.
