Memorial Day and Playoff Sundays meant NBA tripleheaders when the games were telecast on NBC from 1990 to 2002. Older heads are probably humming the John Tesh-penned theme as you read this, but the three-game days ended when the NBA moved to the Disney family of networks early this century. Nike Basketball will celebrate the history of roundball leading up to their inaugural World Basketball Festival with a trifecta of games at the exact location where the very first basketball game was played back in 1891. A prelude to this year’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony, these games will tip off at Mason Square in Springfield, Massachusetts, with groups of elite young talent going head to head the week before the ‘real’ WBF event kicks off at NYC’s Madison Square Garden. Keep it glued to Sneaker News for updates on all the World Basketball Festival events.
