We thought the Metallic Platinum Quickstrike was going to be the final colorway of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, but arriving in Spring 2011 is a White, Black, Sport Red, and Metallic Silver colorway. the upper features a white base with a sport red overlay with a metallic silver Air unit and black “eye-liner” on midsole. These are just preliminary rendered images so we can get a firm grasp of what this colorway will look like. These are an obvious tribute to his injury-ridden days playing for the Cincinnati Reds, but remember he did make the 2007 National League All-Star team, displaying prime form with 23 dingers and 59 RBI by the All-Star break. During the ’07 ASG, Griffey wore a cleat version of a very similar colorway – white base, red overlay, black forefoot swoosh – so this upcoming Air Griffey Max 1 colorway is surely a special one as it is a reminder of Griffey’s final All-Star Game appearance (those darn injuries!).
