These days, not many new non-signature basketball footwear designs incite a lot of excitement. After Kobe, LeBron, KD, the Hyperdunk, and the Hyperfuse, the rest just seem to get swept along the wayside. The Air Zoom Barcelona (inspired by four sneakers from the ’92 Dream Team) was one of those shoes that was poised for some level of success; based on reader response from the first time we showed you the Air Zoom Barcelona in the ‘Olympic’ inspired colorway, it seemed that Nike Basketball had somewhat of a hit with the Barcelona – until Nike decided to scrap it for good. Why that decision was made and whether or not the Air Zoom Barcelona would have been a success is up for debate, but it would have been nice to see these on store shelves.
Here’s a look at an unreleased colorway of the Air Zoom Barcelona in Black, White, and Sport Red; it features a triangular tesselation graphic on the upper seen on the Zoom Kobe V ‘POP’, so if one were to put two and two together, these could have been released sometime during last year’s late-season or Playoff run. Check out the images below and let us know what you think of the Barcelona, and if you’re interested in adding these unreleased sneakers to your collection, check out the auction from cheapskates9107 on eBay.
