Some of you might not remember Kid Icarus, the classic Nintendo game focusing on the adventures of Pit and his attempt to save the kingdom. It was before the era of next-generation gaming, when ‘graphics’ meant pixelated blocks and sidescrolling movement, but Nintendo ‘retroed’ Kid Icarus in 2007 for the Nintendo Wii. The Nike Air Icarus Extra would not see the same fate, as this early-90’s runner, originally slated for the Fall 2010 release, was either scrapped or postponed for the future. The Icarus Extra wasn’t the flashiest of shoes and was fairly bare-boned in terms of materials used and technology (visible Air was of course the budding tech at that time), but for hardcore Nike enthusiasts, it would’ve been nice to see these back on shelves.
