Michael Jordan debuted the Air Jordan V during the 1990 NBA All-Star Game, wearing the exact same colorway you see here (sans ’23’ stitching on the heel). Jordan and the Eastern Conference All-Stars easily defeated the Western Conference by a 17-point margin thanks to Michael’s 17 point, 5 rebound, 5 steal, and 2 assist performance, but the MVP trophy for that game went to a player on the losing side (Magic Johnson, just the third overall instance in which the MVP was given to a player on the losing team). Michael would continue to wear the Air Jordan V in the Black/Metallic Silver colorway throughout the remainder of the regular season and during the Playoffs. The irony behind the excitement of this upcoming release is that many of those who are eagerly anticipating these Jordans weren’t even alive when MJ rocked them, but that goes to show just how powerful the Air Jordan legacy is. Check out these new images below and let us know if you plan on grabbing these once they drop this August. via kickslab.
