Just how do you become the face of one of Nike’s most popular Basketball designs? Mercilessly posterize a rookie center, jump over a Kia, and wreak havoc above the rim. Blake Griffin has forced some of the Los Angeles spotlight on himself, dazzling the viewing public with some of the most vicious and crowd-pleasing dunks on a consistent basis, and his All-Star status in his rookie* season has earned him a spot on the Nike Basketball roster as the face of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011. BG debuted the Hyperdunk 2011 during the 2011 NBA All-Star Game and wore it a few times thereafter, and even gifted a pair of his shoes to Conan O’Brien, when he was a guest on the late-night talk show.
What makes the Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 that much more special is that it’s a complete rehaul from previous designs. It features next-generation Flywire technology, a 3D-shaped glass-reinforced composite midfoot shank for torsional rigidity, Zoom Air at the heel and forefoot, and an external heel counter for optimal stability. The Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 will join the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 at the forefront of the Nike Basketball movement for the 2011-12 NBA season, but you can have yours when the Hyperdunk 2011 releases in August. We’ve got detailed images of two new colorways as well as a look at designer Leo Chang’s preliminary sketches below so check ’em out and get ready to ball!
