Kevin Durant Tour of China – Day 1 Recap

Durant China Day 1 2011 01

Last year, Kevin Durant took his first-ever trip to China, serving as an ambassador for Nike Basketball and the NBA to a country that rivals the U.S. in terms of basketball fandom. Today, KD returned to the East, visiting the city of Guangzhou as well as Jinan University to meet and greet with local fans of the game. KD also attended a 19-and-under regional final game from a local tournament. after which the winners received a special gift from KD, which appeared to be Nike Zoom KD III Scoring Title Home PE. The highlight of his first day was his participation in the GameChangers program – a sports-driven volunteer effort that encourages the community to support the disadvantaged. One of the major concerns is pollution in the Wen Rui Tang, which the GameChangers program has made a priority; the team received a grant from Nike as well as the China Youth Development Foundation to utilize sport to raise awareness of the rising problem. It was all in a day’s work for the NBA’s scoring champ – encouraging those around him and doing what he can to make the world a better place.
