After the passing of Nike Mag 2011, the world of sneakers pointed its attention back to the Holiday 2011 line-up of Air Jordans, Nikes, and other releases that have big expectations hanging over them. We got a first look at the Air Jordan IV ‘Doernbecher’ – a sneaker that will be the unofficial kick-off for all Air Jordan IV Retro releases in 2012. Some game-worn Air Jordan samples and PEs from basketball, football, and baseball were also big stories as well. The Nike LeBron 9 was also officially debuted by Nike, which we followed up with detailed looks at the Black/Red colorway and the soon-to-release ‘China’ version. The Entourage x Nike SB Dunk Low made the most headlines this year in Nike SB news, but a first look at the ‘GR’ version will make it one of the best sneakers of the year. And although the Nike Mag 2011 auctions have come and gone, the Mag still made some great headlines as those who were fortunate to be winning bidders shared their newest pick-up.
In Nike Penny news, we got a look at a new Foamposite One colorway, part of the Sole Collector Las Vegas set. A ‘Max Orange’ colorway of the Zoom Rookie LWP also caught our attention. Staying on the Nike Basketball Retro tip was a preview of some upcoming Nike Basketball classics that have been revamped, like the Air Max Darwin 360, Air Max Shake Evolve, and Air Max Barkley. In Nike Sportswear news, we learned of release info for the Mighty Crown x NSW collaboration, and also got a look at two new revamped Air Max 95s – a model that has been relatively untouched during Nike Sportswear’s catalog-wide ‘refresh’. Finally, we brought to light one of the more controversial subjects of the sneaker game – the overall rise in prices – by bringing you a well thought-out editorial from a prominent name in the sneaker publications. Check out the rest of Sneaker News Weekly Rewind, and see you in October!
