The Nike SB P-Rod V followed Eric Koston’s first Swoosh signature as pioneers in what we’d have to expect will be a growing mass of LunarLon-cushioned skate kicks, but it was Nike Running who led the way some three years earlier with a rippled space age foam sole on the LunarRacer+. That signature shape has given way to sleeker profiles just as the original LunarLite was replaced by its superior, but this Nike SB Lunarod V helps us imagine a totally mixed up world where the LunarRacer sole is reproduced with LunarLon and strapped to the body of a P-Rod 5. It’s apparently a rough world, judging by the damaged midsole that reveals that especially for something as abrasive as skateboarding, the cushioning is probably best embedded within a traditional cupsole.
