While it appears that at least the first two weeks of the NBA will be shelved, the league’s biggest stars made sure that basketball fans didn’t go without some early-October live action hoops. In an exhibition game called the South Florida All-Star Classic, NBA stars gathered in Florida, forging alliances under the umbrella of Team LeBron and Team Wade; on Wade’s squad were NBA All-Stars Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul, while on LeBron’s side, Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant joined forces. The crowd was ready to witness the world’s greatest strut their stuff, and the ballers on court were definitely ready to put on a show.
During this game, we were treated to a visual specialty of new basketball kicks meant for the 2011-12 season; LeBron James wore the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Cannon’, while Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant each wore their respective new signatures (Fly Wade 2, Melo M8, CP3.V, Zoom KD IV). Amare Stoudemire was also spotted with the Air Max Sweep Thru, Russell Westbrook rocked the Zoom Hyperfuse 2011 PE, and Rajon Rondo selected the tonal-volt Hyperdunk 2011. The final outcome had Team Wade victorious by the score of 141-140, but it was LeBron James’ post-game speech that erased any Win or Loss and unified both the players and the fans, proving that basketball truly never stops.
