Japanese fashion superstar Nigo’s A Bathing Ape label has its own Chuck Taylor tribute in the Apesta, but BAPE’s leader reached outside his brand’s bounds for this latest project, a new set for the ultra-premium Converse Addict line that applies the designer’s signature approach to an old favorite. The Nigo x Converse Addict Chuck Taylor All Star adds a zipper to its lateral sides, a move that switches to the exterior-facing side a feature we’ve seen applied to many classic basketballers’ medial panels in recent months. Furthermore, the zipper placket is more fully exposed than those other zipped kicks, and this distinct application serves as the exlamation point on the ‘opposite day’ vibe.
