Hawaii is known for its beautiful hula girls, volatile volcanoes and postcard beaches, but did you know about the 50th state’s famed cowboys? Also known as paniolos, the Hawaiian cowboys trace their roots to the Mexican vaqueros just like the mainland American cattle rustlers, so are on the leading edge of a western-based trend that might replicate itself ‘Over and Over’ like the livestock brought over by General Vancouver? We’ll hold off on proclaiming the era of the countrified hybrid, but it’s hard not to see the potential for similar themes once you’ve noticed how well the Kicks/HI x Vans Vault Authentic LX turned out. The distinctive blend of premium leather and blue chambray already moved quickly from the store’s brick and mortar locations, and now a scant 24 pairs is available from the Kicks/HI online store.
