Continuing Classics Revisited: Nike Air Penny is one of the more rare specimens of the Air Penny line – the unreleased sample. The Air Penny III had the incredibly tough task of playing follow-up to the ground-breaking Nike Air Foamposite One, but did so in seamless fashion; it features a Foamposite upper with design cues borrowed from the Air Penny II like the oval 1-Cent pendant and the rib-layered midsole, but the design was certainly distinct to hold its own. While the Air Penny III didn’t see a whole bunch of colorways in its original run, Nike did flirt with this white colorway that actually never went beyond the ‘Sample’ stage. Nike never brought it bought in the following ‘Retro’ and ‘House of Hoops’ releases, making this unreleased White Sample one of the most obscure and rare Air Penny productions ever.
