New Balance is probably the sneaker company most commonly associated with New England, but you could convincingly argue that they wouldn’t even exist as a footwear brand were it not for a much more experienced footwear label up in Maine. Converse is the OG of OGs at 104 years old and counting, and with the new Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Made in Maine boot, the One Star celebrates its home base by bringing in the Highland Shoe Company for this rich Horween Leather, Vibram ripple-soled winter masterpiece. Leather board construction means these can be re-soled so the ultra-premium upper will remain viable for generations, but would you wear a $350 boot that’s guaranteed to skyrocket in value given only 80 pairs in circulation? The Made in Maine collection launches this Friday, November 30th at Converse boutiques in Boston and NY along with select First String retailers; is this epic Chuck Taylor boot now near the top of your Christmas wish list?
