Is it a coincidence that Nike’s decided to bring back some original colorways of the Nike Cortez featured in Forrest Gump twenty years after the film was an Oscars darling, taking home Best Picture and five other awards? We don’t think so. While the Swoosh has shied away from making any official connection, those of you who spend an equal amount of your time obsessing over sneakers as you do films (or just tune into TBS every other day to see the movie in heavy syndication), you might remember the Cortez receiving some shine in the spotlight. The White/Varisty Red-Varsity Royal pair is definitely more recognizable, but this muted white leather and black colorway is classic enough to wear on any occasion. No word yet on a stateside release date, but this Cortez is already arriving at Euro retailers this Saturday. Grab a full look below.
