The Return Of The “Doom” Foamposites

The Return Of The “Doom” Foamposites

Doom Foams Are Coming Back Soon 001

Nike will be celebrating the decade anniversary of one of the most simplistic and sought after Nike Air Foamposite Pro releases ever, as the “Dr. Doom” Foams are slated to release in 2016. Originally a part of the Fantastic Four Pack in which Nike Sportswear featured the Nike Air Max 90, Nike Air Force 1 Low, Nike Dunk High, and Nike Air Max 95 to each represent a member of the comic book super group, the Foamposite stood in stark contrast to represent the villain Victor von Doom, a.k.a Dr. Doom. Instead of giving the Foamposite Pro Doom’s actual comic book colors of silver and green, Nike’s went a completely different route, but the ominous intent remained.

It’s hard to imagine, but the Nike Foamposite Pro “Dr. Doom” actually lingered on store shelves for quite some time upon initially releasing in select major markets. Minds eventually changed with a peak of interest in the Foamposite series arriving a few years later. Since reaching a certain unattainable status today, Nike’s toyed with the idea of bringing them back, as this 2014 Sample showcased a more Carolina-like color blocking thanks to added white piping around the laces while the troublesome white lining was replaced with a more sterile black. Luckily for all of the OG enthusiasts out there, Nike is bringing a retro nearly identical to the original back. One also has to take solace in knowing that Nike strayed away from releasing this pair with any connection to the most recent Fantastic Four film that bummed everyone out this summer. One thing is for certain: this shoe is no flop.
