Jordan Brand‘s Pinnacle Series took the Air Jordan 1 and gave it a $400 makeover. Utilizing premium 24K gold accents throughout, the snakeskin pairs and a recent Vachetta tan leather rendition reminiscent of Hender Scheme’s creations showcased an attention to detail Jordan Brand has been known for in the past, just in a different context. This Air Jordan 4 “Pinnacle” sample proves that the Jumpman had other plans outside of Mike’s first silhouette, as the Air Jordan 4 was overhauled in a snakeskin upper in a look straight out of JBF Customs’ catalog. Gone are the mesh ventilation units for a more lifestyle ready leather as a lacing system gets bolstered with square-cut leather for a matching grey and tan aesthetic. Even the vintage Flight patch is reworked in snakeskin. While this pair is unlikely to release, it’s a look inside of the brand’s thought process approaching new territories as Jordan’s offerings continues to polarize in two directions – modern day performance basketball silhouettes unlikely to be worn off the court, and the pairs that MJ wore now known as lifestyle classics.
