Kristaps Porzingis could become the highest paid European basketball player in the footwear game to date thanks to his recent multiyear deal with adidas set to pay him between $3 million to $6 million annually.
According to The Vertical, Nike has until mid-October to match the contract but isn’t expected to, making Kristaps the latest member of the three stripe’s basketball squad over the rival Swoosh, a brand that’s been paying Porzingis since he went pro at 17 years young. adidas was rumored to have the most aggressive pitch with plans to immediately feature Kristaps in their advertising for the upcoming season. You can expect Porzingis to wear the adidas Crazy Explosive in a number of Knicks-centric PEs throughout the season.
In order to get an adidas signature shoe, Kristaps will have to meet a number of on-court achievements like being voted to start for the Eastern Conference in the All-Star game and more, but his contract with adidas already puts him in some elite company; his earning puts him on par with the likes of Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, and Paul George.
