Last year, New Balance embarked on their 3-D Printing journey in an exclusive collaboration with 3D Systems. The technology was called DuraForm Flex TPU and featured completely customizable outsoles for runners based on one’s own foot mold that promised more durability as the Bostonian-based running specialists looked toward the future of performance silhouettes. It’s no longer just a concept either, as today we get a look at the technology in action with the announcement of the New Balance MS066 slated to release exclusively at Concepts NY this Saturday, November 5th.
The New Balance MS066 was created with the classic New Balance 990 in mind, just flipped on its head. The MS066 utilizes the 3-D Printing process showcased last year with additional Selective Laser Sintering process to match a brand new no-seam knit upper that’s fairly reminiscent of the Nike Sock Dart’s aesthetic. A premium leather heel adds support while reflective details wrap around the ankle collar. Only 40 pairs will be made available this Saturday, and you’ll have to enter a raffle this Thursday, November 3rd hosted at Concepts’ New York location for a chance to even purchase a pair. Check out a full detailed look below and let us know what you think of New Balance’s futuristic running model.
