adidas Originals continues to push the boundaries of footwear design as they’ve showed off a Boost-laden model with the upper constructed of recycled ocean plastic from a collaboration with the environmentally-minded Parley for the Oceans. Now the Parley adidas Ultra Boost is going to release in a limited run of 7,000 pairs this mid-November. There isn’t a specific date yet, but there is a link to adidas.com with a countdown set to expire on November 15th.
The limited run of the Parley adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged features a clean all white colorway that consists of 95 percent ocean plastic and 5 percent of a recycled polyester, creating a knit textile that still gives off the aesthetic of Primeknit with a sock-like fit on the ankle collar. The light blue stitching on the heel counter stays in-line with past Parley designs. adidas has also stated it plans on putting one million pairs of sneakers with Parley’s up-cycled ocean plastic throughout 2017. That target means that at least 11 million bottles recycled by Parley in coastal regions will be put to use, repurposed as performance sportswear.
adidas and Parley for the Oceans will also debut performance soccer jerseys for two of their top clubs, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Bayern Munich will wear the Parley adidas soccer jerseys on November 5th while Real Madrid will showcase the up-cycled kit on November 26th. (You can grab both of the special edition Ocean Plastic soccer jerseys on adidas.com/parley on November 4th for Bayern Munich and November 24th for Real Madrid).
