The road to NBA stardom wasn’t quite as easy for Damian Lillard as some of his colleagues in the game, which this latest colorway of his adidas Dame 3 recognizes by remembering the less-than-ideal gym his high school AAU team practiced at in Oakland.
Dame takes a trip down memory lane with the “West Campus” colorway, referencing the rundown gym he perfected his game in: “It was a rundown school, and we’d go practice there. They had wooden backboards with black tape where the square should be. It was always cold because the windows up top were broken out. “All kinds of crazy stuff.”
The colorway in off-white represents the dingy walls of the gym, while cargo and burgundy accents portray the wooden backboards, unfinished floors, and worn-out bleachers of the West Campus at Berkley Adult School where Damian’s AAU team would practice.
