adidas Is Bringing Back Their 3D Runner With Redesigned Midsole

Remember the adidas 3D Runner? It was the three stripes’ take on the latest in 3D printing technology, as an Ultra Boost inspired Primeknit woven upper rested upon a completely custom one-piece lattice midsole that acted as a futuristic cushioning system. It wasn’t solid either, as you could see the ventilated holes throughout, allowing for the material to stretch and flex with each step. While it might not be as comfortable as Boost, the 3D Runner served as an inspiring concept for what the future of sneakers could be – both comfortable, functional, and environmentally smart.

adidas gave their Olympic athletes pairs and then released an incredibly limited run at their adidas NYC flagship store on 5th Ave for $333 USD. It looks like the brand continues to revamp their 3D printing technology, as the adidas 3D Runner 2.0 recently appeared in one-of-one form in Asia. The early look showcases a thicker midsole with a new and improved shape that may no longer depend on that lattice structure while the Ultra Boost’s heel cage is no longer present. What do you think of the look? Stay tuned for more updates in the near future right here on Sneaker News.
