Tinker Hatfield Breaks Down The Air Jordan 5 “Fab Five” Design

The new era of Jordan Brand joining forces with the University of Michigan is off the a hot start. Tinker Hatfield crafted this special colorway of the Air Jordan 5 Retro to honor the legendary “Fab Five” squad that dominated college hoops in the early 90s. Anyone who watched basketball during that short arc was certainly influenced by the style and swagger put forth by Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King, and with this Air Jordan 5 Retro, Jordan Brand is honoring the past while saluting the future of the Jordan x Michigan partnership.

Featured on this PE are various details that call back to Michigan’s traditions; “Hail To The Victors” is seen on the tongue labels, the Fab Five hand gestures are embroidered on the heel, the Michigan’s bold M logo replaces the Jumpman on the large tongue.
