Seen across the internet in previews for the last couple of months, Nike finally drops the story behind the new Air Zoom Mariah Flyknit. Modeled after the 1988 Air Mariah racing shoe, the new shoe updates the silhouette with modern amenities including a lightweight Flyknit bootie upper, Brio cables for a secure fit, and a responsive Zoom Air cushioned sole.
Although most closely inspired by the 1988 Air Mariah that featured a white, orange and purple colorway similar to the modernized version, the Air Zoom Mariah Flyknit is presented here by Nike News alongside the Air Mariah PR from 1990 that introduced the iconic white, blue, and neon pink colorway to running. You also get a look at the original Air Mariah from 1981—the second Nike shoe to ever utilize Air cushioning.
The Air Zoom Mariah Flyknit releases June 22nd via the Nike SNKRS app and at select Nike retailers globally.
