Nike’s ambitious BREAKING2 project aimed to give its runners an added advantage to try and break the sub-2 hour marathon time, a feat that’s yet to be recorded in human history. Runner Eliud Kipchoge came close with his record-breaking time of just 2 hours and 25 seconds and was the main inspiration behind the incredibly rare Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Elite. Nike Running never released this pair to the public, but now one of the lucky 5K runners who participated through the Nike Run Club app on May 7th is auctioning their pair off on eBay, with the listing starting at $10,000 USD. The Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite was only made in three sizes for the three runners who were in the BREAKING2 project and comes in a beautiful promotional packaging in finished wood with a large Swoosh. A transparent box inside reads ‘Every moonshot needs a rocket’. Start bidding today on eBay.
