VETEMENTS Teases Vans Slip-On Inspired Sneaker

Vetements Vans Slip On Collaboration 01

Update: According to a Vans rep, there’s no VETEMENTS collaboration planned for 2018, so it looks like the fashion imprint created their own Slip-On rendition inspired by the skate brand’s checkerboard print.

The fashion industry is all in on VETEMENTS to the point where the name – pronounced vet-MAHN which translates to simply ‘clothes’ in French – has trickled into the world of sneakers. Plenty of people hated the fashion collective’s bored kid in the back of the classroom take on the Reebok Instapump Fury but the doodle-heavy pair goes for a staggering $900 on the resale market. A quick overview of VETEMENTS’ meteoric rise in the fashion industry had their leader, Demna Gvasalia, named as Balenciaga’s new creative director – which might explain why the popular Balenciaga Speed Trainer looks a whole lot like the coming VETEMENTS Reebok Sock Runner Ultraknit. Now it looks like VETEMENTS is taking some inspiration from Vans for a rather simple (by their standards)  slip-on sneaker that “borrows” the iconic chckerboard motif. This colorway features a highlighter electric blue checkerboard pattern with contrast black blocks while their name is stitched onto the heel in yellow. There’s no word yet on a release date, but their official Instagram account teased the photo for Spring/Summer 2018. Stay tuned.
