Ben Felderstein Much of Nike’s 2018 Black History Month Collection is centered around specific moments in time and their significance, as we have already seen the LeBron 15 and the KD 10 sport golden dates emblazoned on their midsoles. Now, the Nike Vapormax BHM is following in their footsteps with “08 20 1993” featured toward its heel in that same gold lettering. On that date, Gail Devers set the IAAF world record for the 100m run; the record still stands today.
The Swoosh has decided to honor this feat with a primarily black Vapormax iteration that furthers Nike’s continued Pan-African aesthetic with touch of green and red scattered throughout and a tri-colored stripe on its heel. More gold detailing is featured on the insole and aglets, adding a luxe aesthetic to the model as well.
Nike’s entire BHM collection is scheduled to begin releasing at Nike Sportswear retailers on January 15th, but you can expect this selection to drop either late this month or early next month with a slightly higher MSRP of $205 USD.
