New York’s own Extra Butter has engrained themselves in the city’s culture, and has become an integral part of the Lower East Side’s robust sneaker traditions. Not only is their NYC store located in New York’s LES, but Butter was tasked with hosting a one-day pop-up shop for the Black Pigeon SB Dunk just one block away from where the original drop occurred. It would be nearly impossible to talk about sneakers in downtown NY without referencing the guys at Extra Butter.
Following in the footsteps of EB’s Reebok collaboration with Urban Outfitters, one of the Big Apple’s top shops is back with their “Dear Downtown” project – paying tribute to the various music and art movements of the past. Highlighted by a Workout Plus sneaker that boasts full-grain leather with distressed black denim adorning its upper, the capsule also features apparel that highlights creative minds from the 1980’s. Much like the Levi’s x Air Jordan 4, consumers will be able to further distress the denim – whether it be by accident with wear or intentionally – to add a new look and an additional aura of customizability. EB and Reebok co-branding can be found on both the tongue and heel, while a plethora of lace and insole options come alongside the offering – truly allowing the wearer to make their pair their own. Extra Butter’s entire “Dear Downtown” collection will be available in-store and online on February 24th.
