Jay-Z Named Puma Basketball Creative Director

Jay-Z is returning to the business of sneakers as the hip-hop mogul will now serve as President Of Basketball Operations for Puma and their revived basketball category. He will contribute towards brand direction and concept for the revived hoops category that has already caught the attention of the industry with their signing of Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, and other top NBA prospects to multi-year contracts. Puma also began their official relaunch today by signing Walt Clyde Frazier to a life-time contract with the brand at a special event at the Puma Hoops HQ in Brooklyn, NY.

The appointment of HOV to such a weighty position proves that Puma’s revitalized focus on hoops will be emphasized on both the lifestyle and performance side. Stay tuned for more details as the brand is set to make an official announcement on Jay-Z’s new role with the global sportswear brand.

Update: Puma global director of marketing Adam Petrick confirms that Jay-Z’s role is officially “Creative Director”
