Ross Dwyer Out of all the reimagined takes on the Air Jordan 1 and Air Force 1 first debuted in the “Season Of Her” pack this past spring, the “Rebel” and the “Jester” have grown to become the most popular. The Rebel’s asymmetrical detailing recently appeared on a new-jack Blazer Mid, and now the Jester is returning to the spotlight with a pair of new takes on the classic Air Force 1 High — a “Black” and a “Violet Ash” — both featuring the bold colors and bright abstract detailing that the Jester has become synonymous with.
The classic AF1 High design is tweaked by way of a dropped-down Swoosh and skewed heel tab, providing an disjointed aesthetic that almost looks as if the upper’s detailing is falling off. A large tab appears on the low lateral heel, covering part of the midsole, and a strip of shimmering metallic leather also wraps around the lower half of the upper, seemingly providing a barrier between the shoe’s two main parts. The cored-out outsole from the first batch of releases returns, and a finishing touch of contrast is then provided by a bright metallic buckle on the upper’s strap.
