Vans Celebrates Independent’s 40th Anniversary With A Collaborative Style 36 Pro

Paying homage to one of the longest-running skateboarding labels in the culture, Vans is reuniting with the talented team at Independent Truck Co. to immortalize their 40th anniversary with an expansive collaborative capsule. Taking up the canvas of the Anaheim brand’s most deeply rooted silhouette, the Style 36 Pro arrives like it’s never been seen before. Ushering in many of the modern Pro Skate specifications alongside an overall design that mimics the look and feel of an indy truck, the 1977-originated model bears some bold visual and performance updates. The signature cross logo finds itself embossed throughout the entire upper with a more explicit “INDEPENDENT” printed along the heel counter in warped fashion. Connecting it that much more to the skateboard essential, the Jazz Stripe dons a metallic finish while the many notes of iconography shine when under bright light. A stark white midsole balances the palette’s primarily dark disposition while the orange waffle bottom and checkerboard insole call back to each of the partner’s unique heritage. The Independent x Vans Style 36 Pro — alongside accompanying accessories and apparel — is available now at Vans.com and select Pro Skate dealers.
