Nike’s celebratory “Year Of The Pig” pack, created in honor of the Chinese New Year, is nothing if not expansive. With a wide variety of silhouettes both pulled from the archives and drawn from modern-day releases the CNY pack offers something for everyone, and boasts detailed design embellishments on each and every pair. Although several CNY sneakers have piqued the interest of the general sneaker-loving public, the most anticipated just might be the Air Max 98 — a shoe that touts a maximalist medley of homage-filled colors, materials, and patterns. Using teal, red, and gold for the base colors, and featuring a masterful mix of six different materials ranging from snakeskin to patent leather — all of which draw from past CNY collections — the shoe combines the “Year Of The Pig” pack’s traditional Bai Jia Yi quilted pattern with “What The”-style embellishments to great effect. For a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it finishing touch of detail, a pair of hands clasped in prayer then appears on the simple black outsole. Check out a full set of images for these masterful Air Max below, and look for them to release on Nike.com later this January.
