Ross Dwyer Two decades after it first released in 1999, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 5 has been brought back to a receptive market in a medley of original colorways, and the latest pair to appear is this royal combination of white, grey, and purple. It’s a testament to the shoe’s design that it looks modern two decades after it first released, and that sleek aesthetic gets served up here by a white mesh base with grey suede/white leather overlays. There’s no shortage of bold purple accents either, as they appear on the tongue, heel, and midfoot, where they’re embroidered over the top of a sleek silver branded hit. Down below, the midsole is split between a light grey with white speckles and a dark steel grey on the instep’s dense Duomax foam piece. Even more purple is then provided on the heel’s GEL cushioning and the midfoot’s plastic shank. A white outsole finalizes the stylings. If you’re looking to add this blast from the past to your collection, you’ll be able to do so on June 21st when they release at the retailers listed below for $140 USD.
