Crinkled Patent Leather Appears On The Upcoming Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard 3.0”

feature image

Offering some of the decade’s most highly-regarded takes on the Air Jordan 1, Jordan Brand’s “Shattered Backboard” line is immensely desirable, and it’s set to welcome its third member to the fold this October: the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Shattered Backboard 3.0.” These Air Jordans feature a recognizable colorblocking scheme, calling upon a black base while using bold “Starfish” orange on the toebox, midfoot Swooshes, heel, and collar flaps, but the materials used are noticeably different. The crinkled patent leather takes on a glossy, almost glass-like sheen, a potential — and quite literal — nod to their nickname, while the midsole offers a yellow tint to lock in the heritage stylings even further. These new embellishments have proved somewhat divisive, as this pair hasn’t been immediately welcomed with open arms like the previous duo of iterations were, but it’s still sure to move quickly when it releases on October 26th. Take an on-foot look directly below, and let us know what you think of this triennial entrant in the “Shattered Backboard” series as well.
