The Nike Zoom Vapor X Kyrie 5 Returns For The US Open

The Nike Zoom Vapor X Kyrie 5 Returns For The US Open

One blows past hapless, tangled defenders on the basketball court while one smashes helpless opponents with tremendous serves and blasting forehands on the tennis court, but Kyrie Irving and Nick Kyrgios have more in common than you might originally think. Those similarities have been explored in great detail on the hybrid NikeCourt Zoom Vapor X Kyrie 5, a shoe that’s now set to release in a special makeup for the US Open. The final iteration of the season and the first to arrive since a rather unfortunately-timed Boston Celtics colorway hit shelves in early July, this high performance piece of tennis footwear boasts the same black, purple, and green color scheme that’s present on NikeCourt‘s NYC-themed US Open apparel collection. Speckled print on the Swoosh, an NYC badge on the toebox, and graphics inspired by torn posters on the toe bumpers all nod to the Big Apple’s basketball culture, furthering their fusion of hoops and tennis. A Kyrie 5-style lace overlay offers extra lockdown and style, stability is provide by a visible TPU foot frame, and Zoom Air in the heel guarantees responsive cushioning. These new Nike shoes will release on Nike.com globally come August 24th, so mark your calendars for their release and be sure to tune into the US Open this month as well.

Update: Now available at Nikestore.
