Often exploring their Japanese roots or Renaissance art with high-end stalwart Vivienne Westwood, ASICS dives back into their early school days to take Ivy with three of their strongest staples: the Nimbus 21, Kayano 26, and Kayano 5 OG. Among them a connecting palette of deep, saturated tones can be found as if a uniform sharply pressed for the first day of school. The retro icon, who’s seen more futuristic skins and 360 GEL soles, is stripped back to basics, bearing its classics tooling though now with bits of suede and burgundy-toned mesh. The former, which takes up much of the overlays, ranges from dark navy at the profile and lining while diverting to contrasting off-white at the toes. The Nimbus, though similar, prefers a more all-over use of the deep red while accents of the aforementioned alongside a forrest green add more vibrant color across the heel supports and laces. Not too farfetched from runner make-ups, the Kayano 26 is minimal in relative terms: its synthetic constructions are almost entirely a grey dye while the rear, midsoles, and eye stays stand in blue, green, and red, respectively. Grab a detailed look at what’s in store for the “Academic Scholar” pack right below and find all three rolling out to select retailers come September 6th.
