Nike’s “current shoe of the future,” the Air Max 2090, is arriving much sooner than its name suggests. Teased by LeBron James just days before its official announcement, the new silhouette is debuting in three colorways, among them this monochromatic take.
With design elements from the Air Max 90, The Swoosh’s latest model is unquestionably rooted in heritage. Mudguards, though not as long and shorter, line the Air Max 2090’s side walls. Midsole Air units are still visible, but are borrowed from the Air Max 200. Despite featuring updated “AIR” branding and ridges, heel tabs testify to the timelessness of their 30-year-old inspiration. The Air Max 2090’s yin-and-yang arrangement isn’t new, even recently emerging on the Air Max 98, but its cropped Swoosh, zig-zag stitching, opaqueness and distinct tread lines are entirely unique to the newest member of the Air Max family.
This two-tone Air Max 2090 is arriving April 9th on Nike.com with a price tag of $150 USD. For now, enjoy a closer look at the shoes here below.
