The fight against COVID-19 seems more daunting than ever before, but Nike and adidas further pledged their commitment to assist those on the frontline this week. On the Swoosh side of things, health professionals in Oregon consulted internal innovation teams to develop high-functioning face shields out of repurposed apparel and Air Max footwear. Similarly, The Three Stripes Brand and Carbon are manufacturing up to 18,000 face shields per week using the 3D-printed materials seen on the 4D Run 1.0. Away from their pandemic relief efforts, both sportswear giants kept sneaker enthusiasts entertained with both product launches and looks at upcoming releases.
Before dropping its now-delayed Prada Superstar, adidas tapped Human Made for three simple, but tasteful takes on the 50-year-old silhouette. Elsewhere, the German brand partnered with McDonald’s for a sauce-inspired Dame 6. Kanye West’s Yeezy imprint has also kept busy with its Yeezy 700 v3 and Yeezy 350 v2 silhouettes, with official images of the latter’s Yeezy Linen iteration recently surfacing.
Under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Jumpman subsidiary added more Jordan releases for 2020 as a handful of both the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan 1 Low emerged. Virgil Abloh‘s next Jordan 5 also received a tentative Holiday 2020 release timeframe, which comes after the rumored launches of the Off White Air Jordan 4 and Rubber Dunk. News of the American sportswear brand re-issuing the Air Max 95 “Neon” also emerged alongside first-looks at the next Air Max 95 Greedy from retailers across Asia.
