adidas TERREX Presents PROTOHYPE, A Trail Running Series Comprised Of Three New Styles

Similar to Consortium, the adidas TERREX namesake effectively operates outside of the typical Three Stripes design ethos. Rather than conform to popular taste, the sub-label often pays more attention to utility, outfitting its many silhouettes with whatever necessary to perform. Now, after a likely exhaustive few months of work, TERREX and the athletes from which they’ve sought knowledge are readied to unveil the inventive “PROTOHYPE” series, a small collection of runners that encompasses the brand new TWO (Trails Without Obstacles) and Agravic styles.

Placed as the ostensible lead, the TERREX TWO Ultra Parley gears up for what the brand touts as the “ultimate long-distance experience.” Snug heels fit to the user with near perfect tolerance, while a wider forefoot and rocker shape deliver a smooth overall run. Continental soles, a frequently used rubber in the span of the adidas umbrella, then outfits underneath, bearing function in a black and white design that works in tandem with the Boost’s sublimated print. Above, recycled Parley weaves construct for hi-vis with yellow shades, matching that of the laces while complementing the black accents that dress the toe, eye stay, collar, and heel counter.

In slight departure, the TERREX TWO Parley takes the same ideas but strips it down to a more accessible price point. Though positioned as a universal model equipped for mid to long sessions, the pair still bears a similar wide toe box intended for comfort. Elsewhere, the same sustainable Parley weaves are re-utilized, fitted with EVA midsoles and lightstrike technology.

The Agravic BOA, as its title would imply, spotlights the ever-convenient and tested boa fit system which allows for easy custom adjustments whenever required. Somewhat more stable than the aforementioned, the sneaker forgoes knits for a weather-resistant fabrication that hues bright yellow just as the offerings before it. Black complements appear alongside, dressing up the heel counter taping as well as a chain link patter that dresses the profile. Grey overlays, which seem to make use of suede, then provide a neutral backing for the wheel-shaped fastener and the usual striped logos. Boost soles then adorn the bottom with the energy returning rocker shape, completing an equally technical though slightly cheaper option.

Take a look at the entire pack just below and expect to find the PROTOHYPE collection at adidas.com in August.
