Michael Le A product of current times, Nike’s latest innovation — dubbed the “Offline” — pivots far and away from performance to tend to one’s mental health. Effectively created for doing nothing and lounging around, this “anti-sneaker,” as the brand likes to call it, ushers in a mule-inspired design language that filters through the N.354 sub-label’s personal translation.
An experiment in form and function, the offering enables R and R through one core modular, utilitarian feature. The foot bed itself, which hues bright in either neon green or pastel pink, calls attention to the unique drop-in midsole system. Defined as “Sensation 001” and “002,” the two options allows one to pick and choose depending on their mood; the latter insert proffers a massage-like experience through a number of mindfully placed nubs while its complement adds a more widespread pattern that allows for all day wear. Foam padded tongues then outfit the forefoot’s exterior, cushioning below the fastening strap.
