The Latest Nike Air Force 1 NBA Edition Inspired By Banned Accessories

The Latest Nike Air Force 1 NBA Edition Inspired By Banned Accessories

As opposed to simply slapping on the Jerry West logo and calling it a day, Nike and the NBA have decided to design their next round of Air Force 1 collaborations based off of something a little more unexpected: banned apparel and accessories.

On this high-top basketball-turned-lifestyle silhouette you’ll notice that the uppers are presented with a handful of constructional alterations. Swooshes are paired up with a half-circle gold plate to represent players not being able to rock gold jewelry during play. NBA insignias atop the throat are flipped upside down and are symbolic of when hoopers would rocking their headbands so that the logos appear in this fashion. Moreover the tape-shaped panel on the heels point to kinesio tape that players like Derrick Rose would wear on his neck for stability, and the lateral heel overlay is emblematic of shooting sleeves (both of these items are currently un-banned in today’s game). Color-wise, they are minimally-hued as its leather upper is comprised of an angelic exterior paired with stark black straps. The bottoms bring in more flair as they are entirely painted with gum finishes. You can check out a further look below, and note that they’ll be hitting Nike.com in the coming weeks.

For other news, the Air Jordan 4 White Cement is expected to return next year.
