Instead of simply creating another shoe for Steph Curry, Under Armour is taking a different approach for their next basketball-related initiative by innovating their first ever women’s specific silhouette. Entitled the HOVR Breakthru, the model is designed to a mid-cut height, and comes built with various design elements that cater to the the needs of a female’s foot.
Through extensive research, wear tests, and constant back-and-forth feedback from collegiate players, WNBA rookies Bella Alarie, Kaila Charles and Tyasha Harris, and even a Chinese national women’s 3×3 team, the UA team was able to craft a unique proposition to the hoops market. Key features include that of the a women’s-specific arch shape, narrower ankle collars/heels, double-layered heel and dual density sock liner for extra durability/support, and tongue webbing for easier entry. Material-wise, you’ll find the uppers dominated with soft mesh paneling that runs from toe to ankle, while polka dot-textured, synthetic overlays wrap around the heel. This launch colorway comes packaged with a bold red upper that’s paired up with stark back lace loops and mid-foot branded panels, and is mated down below with camouflage treading of the same hues. You can view more photos of the pair here, and note that they’ll be dropping on September 17th via UnderArmour.com, Dicks.com, and through UA Brand Houses in Boston and Chicago for $110.
In other news, the Adsum Reebok Club C collaboration has been revealed.
