The sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle Releases On November 13th

From season to season, Chitose Abe of sacai further proves that she has no shortage of ideas as she continues to deconstruct and rebuild garments of militaristic, sartorial, and contemporary style. This MO even extends into the designer’s own Nike collaborations, a line-up that has proffered the LDWaffle and soon the further evolved Vaporwaffle. Desired ever since it debuted on the runway, the latter is finally readying up for its official release, one likely very soon as these official images would indicate.

Surfaced in its black and Sail variants, the silhouette is relatively subdued in color relative to its predecessor; but while it may lack in such aspects, the visual design quickly picks up the slack as it makes use of a robust and heavily exaggerated shape. This is most evident in the tooling, a stacked construction whose waffle extends far out the ends of a more modern and sculpted top half. The upper then begins to subvert the multiplied motifs employed prior as everything but the tongue is layered atop the mesh by their lonesome. Suede toe caps, eye stays, and even the counters exhibit this, while the Swoosh, in contrast, deceives with a skewed print complement.
