Back in July, NIKE, Inc. unofficially teased a zippered Air Jordan 1 High that seemed more DIY-project than headed-to-retail proposition. Recently, however, more looks at the model’s “Switch” iteration have arisen, with the latest proffering a “Purple Pulse/Glacier Blue/Sail/Black” colorway for early 2021.
The experimental retro delivers a much more risk-taking color arrangement than has traditionally appeared on the Jordan 1‘s tallest trim: A full-suede upper divvies up soft purple and blue tones throughout Peter Moore’s iconic design. Standard branding, tongues and collar panels deviate from the pastel-adjacent tones in favor of stark “Black” contrast; the miniature swoosh on the lateral forefoot forgoes any of the aforementioned hues, instead indulging in a teal-like color. As its namesake suggests, the Jordan 1 Switch features a robust zipper (done in yellow on this pair) right underneath the seventh eyelet. In seconds, then, the pair becomes a low-top sneaker, boasting a tongue at the appropriate height and an added pull tab at the heel. Sole units rounds out either trim in a “Sail” makeup that allows the upper to revel in the spotlight that much more.
Enjoy images of this versatile proposition here below, and expect pairs to launch via Nike SNKRS in early 2021.
