Spongy Exteriors Cover This Nike Air Force 1 Experimental

Nike Sportswear’s experimental N.354 division has delivered some of NIKE, Inc.’s most eye-catching propositions ever over the last year. Yet, it may have just outdone itself with the Nike Air Force 1 Experimental, which has recently traded black heavy-duty tape for a “Sail” exposed foam.

At a glance, the forthcoming pair simply resembles a utilitarian upgrade to Bruce Kilgore’s original design, but closer inspection reveals one of the silhouette’s most interesting makeups of all-time. The aforementioned, spongey materials takes over the model’s traditional full-leather upper, with dimpling throughout driving a deconstructed aesthetic home. Hits of “Atomic Orange” appear on the tongue, which features a speed-lacing system atop a Blazer Mid ’77-remininscent tongue; upside-down “NIKE AIR” branding on the heel and its accompanying pull tab also indulge in the vibrant citrus tone. Elsewhere, high-vis green labels partially on the spine and midsole nod to the Air Force 1‘s experimental variant, as does the messaging on the sockliners. Underfoot, sole units deliver some semblance of familiarity given their white midsole. Outsoles, however, partake in a slightly-uncommon light blue, semi-translucent finish that ties the arrangement together well.

No Nike.com release date has been confirmed, but this Air Force 1 Experimental is likely to launch in early 2021. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair here below.

For more from the Swoosh, the Drake Nike NOCTA sub-label launches on December 18th.
