As it heads into 2021, NIKE, Inc. has made it clear that it isn’t slowing down its retro propositions any time soon. Yet, the North American sportswear behemoth wouldn’t be itself without innovation, which has recently produced the women’s-exclusive Nike Zoom Air Fire.
While reminiscent of runners from the early 2000s (namely the Spiridon Cage 2), the silhouette is a new proposition from the Swoosh. Set to launch in a mix of bold “Sunset Pulse” and understated “Metallic Silver,” the model features a full-mesh base overlaid with leather and suede panels. The latter material may appear more prominently on future pairs, but only takes over lace guards and heel areas on the four options to surface thus far. Underfoot, sole units indulge in a chunky midsole, which visibly houses Zoom Air cushioning at the heel. Tread further resembles that of the aforementioned Steven Smith-design, although it doesn’t seem as decoupled.
