Twelve Can’t Miss Sneaker News Headlines from December 26th to January 1st

Before delving into the last seven days in sneaker news, the Sneaker News team extends a warm “Happy New Year!” to you and yours.

It’s no secret that the Nike Dunk‘s 35th anniversary was one of the silhouette’s most successful years to date. Travis Scott and Ben & Jerry’s were among the model’s most notable collaborators, but the sneaker is set to rely on its own merit for its earliest propositions of 2021. As suggested by the handful of predominantly-two-tone pairs set to launch on January 14th, 2021, the mid-month date will have countless enthusiasts heading over to the Nike SNKRS app to secure a pair for themselves and/or their loved ones. Nike SB will surely have another blockbuster year, but “UNLV,” “Michigan” and other colorways will ensure the model’s in-line roster is just as impressive.

Jordan Brand and Converse unveiled their plans for Chinese New Year 2021, which has been designed around three pillars: the explosiveness of firecrackers; craftsmanship and unity of the Chinese knot; and new life in spring. The Air Jordan 1 Low returns to original form for the footwear and apparel collection, while the Chuck 70 dresses up in some of its most luxurious outfits yet. Notables from NIKE, Inc.’s mainline options have also dressed up for the “Year of the Ox,” including the Kyrie 7 and Blazer Mid ’77.

Away from the Jumpman logos and swooshes, adidas Yeezy unofficially shared new looks at some of the sneakers with which they plan to take over 2021. While few have seemingly regained the attention of sneaker aficionados, it’s possible Fear of God‘s long-term partnership with adidas may light a fire under Kanye West’s imprint. New Balance showed that it’s looking to have an even better 2021, as it’s prepped new collaborations for the New Balance 327, and is working on the New Balance 991‘s 20th anniversary roster.

For a look at all that and more, check out our top headlines from December 26th, 2020 to January 1st, 2021 below.
