adidas Beefs Up The NMD R1 Trail With GORE-TEX

adidas Beefs Up The NMD R1 Trail With GORE-TEX

With the cold weather demanding durable footwear, sports athletics brands are incorporating hiking boot elements into their sneaker designs. For a new NMD R1, adidas adopts product technologies by GORE-TEX and Continental—brands outside of the sneaker sphere that are well-versed in handling slippery roads and other winter-weather dilemmas.

Although it maintains the look of the NMD R1, there are notable differences that give the model its Trail name. The Core Black knit uppers see a camo-like pattern and are waterproof, thanks to GORE-TEX’s textile innovations. A TPU mudguard in matte black is also present for added protection.  Albeit the pair does have the familiar Boost midsole, the grippy Continental outsole runs below it for outdoor-ready traction.

The NMD R1 Trail is already available at adidas.jp, but a release date for the U.S.’s adidas.com has yet to be announced.
