Many a playful, well-thought out slogan has helmed both Nike advertisements and collections alike. In the past few years, we’ve seen some even get suggestive: for example, in 2017, the brand touted “Kiss My Airs” in bold, colorful fonts. Now, more than three years thereafter, we’re to see the provocation back once more, though this time atop the uppers of the Air Max 95.
But most of the silhouette’s construction is far more subdued relative to its themes. Leathers of various texture — some smooth, others almost safari-like — are dyed a dark grey, each coming together to form a subtle, greyscale gradient across the side layers. Underneath that, the mesh dyes much darker in black, complementing that of the tongue, laces, and even the stitched on tab which features the “Kiss My Airs” text. Eye stays, embroidered branding, and even the sole then rounds off the otherwise neutral palette with loud hits of Volt.
